Indian Filmfest Screens Iranian Films

TEHRAN (FNA)- The 14th edition of the Kolkata Film Festival has dedicated a category to Iranian cinema, screening four feature-length Iranian movies.

The 'Iranian Independents' category will screen Ali Mosaffa's Portrait of a Lady Far Away, Babak Shirinsefat's Rami, Manijeh Hekmat's Three Women and Kianoush Ayyari's Wake Up Arezoo.

The films have been screened at numerous international festivals and have been warmly welcomed by audiences.

Mosaffa's Portrait of a Lady Far Away was screened at the 16th Annual Celebration of Iranian Cinema at The Center for Near Eastern Studies.

Hekmat's Three Women has participated in numerous international events including the MedFilm, Stockholm, San Luis, and Brisbane international film festivals, press tv reported.

Ayyari's Wake Up, Arezou participated in the 2008 Dhaka International Film Festival and Babak Shirinsefat's Rami was screened at the 21st Singapore International Film Festival.

The 2008 Kolkata Film Festival, to be held from Nov. 10 to 17, will screen some 276 films from 62 countries including France, Germany, Italy, Mexico, Norway, Greece and Sweden.
